LOMPOC, Santa Barbara County — October 24, 2026. Homeowners and renters concerned about utility bills may be eligible for assistance that is different from the city’s appliance and landscaping rebates. The City of Lompoc’s Conservation Division advertises a monthly electric rate-assistance credit of up to $18 for qualifying low-income electric customers.

How a monthly credit works

Unlike a one-time reimbursement for a water leak or a more efficient appliance, a utility rate-assistance credit is applied in connection with ongoing electric service if the household meets the program’s rules. The city’s page says an applicant must supply current government-issued identification and proof of income for every household member age 18 or older. Qualification and the actual credit can vary; the headline ‘up to $18’ is a maximum, not a guarantee for every customer.

Mobile homes are included in the published rules

The city explicitly says mobile home residents may qualify. If a resident has a direct city account, the documentation process may differ from that of a household billed through a mobile home park. The city tells applicants without their own Lompoc utility account to provide the latest mobile home rent statement. Applicants should confirm how the credit is delivered in that billing arrangement rather than assuming a particular reimbursement route.

A separate program for medical needs

Lompoc also describes a Residential Medical Discount Program for residents who meet specified medical conditions. The published instructions direct residents to download the application or call 805-875-8258 for a mailed form. California58 does not collect health records or determine medical eligibility; any supporting documentation belongs with the official administering agency.

Other savings do not require a full remodel

The city’s conservation page lists opportunities to exchange inefficient light bulbs for qualifying LEDs, up to published limits, and provides certain WaterSense aerators and showerheads at no cost to utility customers. The materials are subject to program limits and availability. Residents should call 805-875-8252 before visiting City Hall at 100 Civic Center Plaza solely to obtain supplies.

Do not confuse the programs

City rate assistance, conservation rebates, energy-saving appliance discounts and state-administered programs can have separate forms, requirements and eligibility limits. Our previous Lompoc News guide to water leaks and landscaping rebates describes a different set of potential savings. Asking which account, household and expenditure each benefit covers is more reliable than adding their advertised maximums together.
