LOMPOC, Santa Barbara County — October 26, 2026. A Lompoc affordable-housing project has received a new state funding commitment. California says Brisa Encina, a proposed 49-unit community, will receive nearly $20.9 million in Homekey+ funding to help complete its financing package.
The Housing Authority of the County of Santa Barbara is partnering with Surf Development Company and Thompson Housing, LLC. Under the state award, 19 homes are planned for veterans experiencing homelessness who also have qualifying behavioral health challenges. The announcement does not characterize all 49 units as veteran-only housing.
What comes next in Lompoc?
Homekey+ is intended to connect permanent apartments with supportive services. The new funding is a milestone toward building the project, but it is not proof that a tenant can move into Brisa Encina now. Construction, local approvals, eligibility procedures and application timelines should be verified through the housing authority and developer before they are presented as available services.
Residents can follow future housing authority information and project-specific notices. The state release identifies Lompoc as the community for this investment, allowing it to be properly reported by Lompoc News and linked by Santa Barbara County.
